On 7th March 2020 we held the first edition of the Tamu Festival, the event is focused on creating a fan space for children and youth to have fun and showcase their talents.

On this first edition we focused on Consent and what it means when children are in the picture. we highlighted the importance of protecting our children and ensuring there is no sexual exploitation by adults getting to respect children and understanding no child under the age of 18 years can consent to sex or sexual advances no matter what. we looking forward to holding the Tamu Festival on a monthly basis.

Tamu Fest ( Turn Art in Mukuru United) is an event born from Mukuru Youth Initiative’s and Tambua Talanta Jenga Msanii organization to celebrate MuYI HUB and Tambua Talanta’s first anniversary. 

MuYI HUB is a youth creative hub and safe spaces by Mukuru Youth Initiative launched in February 2019 in Mukuru Kwa Reuben to give young people in Mukuru a safe space to express themselves and grow their artistic potential and get a platform to establish their different initiatives.

Tambua Talanta Jenga Msanii is an initiative that was launched in February 2019 in Mukuru Kwa Njenga to give the young  and upcoming artist to create platform and expose their talents but also express themselves artistically.

The event will be focused on raising and discussing issues affecting the Mukuru Community and showcasing the power of art by use of movie showcasting, performing arts and children activities.

Mukuru Youth Initiative and Tambua Talanta Jenga Msanii are youth founded and youth-led community-based organizations. We believe in community-driven change and youths being at the forefront in ensuring this change.
