The function was like no other and though it was held on an open ground the music blazed and fun was in full force, as they say pictures speak a thousand words and definitely more than words here are some of the fan moment that each person who attended enjoyed.
The event also involved the nominees and thousand of people who were voting for them, in which this gave the event more publicity in which the community got a chance to send a text message to vote for their favorite nominees.
The event was a spectacular day event held at hope world wide Mukuru kwa Reuben. It was a day of live music, acrobatics, great speeches, Modeling (Fashion Show), fun and most importantly Awarding.
It was conceived first as a way of promoting and marketing Mukuru Talents this was how Mukuru Awards came to be. The event, from the beginning, took on a relaxed atmosphere. The
Awarding happened between great performances by different artist, acrobatics and dance groups. The fashion Show was also used to crown Mr. and Miss Mukuru 2013/2014.
Mukuru Awards took place on December 7th, 2008, starting at 8:30 am and lasting well 6.30pm. The Band and The Local Artist, played sets of their great music, which filled the entire venue, and entertained the crowd. People applauded and cheered after every song, and even danced to a few of their hits. Eko Dydda a renowned local Gospel Artist crowned the event by his energetic performance that ignited the crowd even more.
Rationale for the Event
The purpose for the event was to give a platform for organization to test their efficiency in the community, for artist and sports men and women to mobilize their fans to support them.
The event focus on awarding individual and organization who have made an impact in the community by involving the people in the community who vote for the individuals and organization through an SMS line and whoever gets the most votes is the winner of the award.
Every year after inception, Mukuru Awards is focused on Awarding this individuals and organizations hence giving credit to their great work.
This year showed a lot of interaction and competitiveness by over 4000 sms send while people in the community were voting for their favorite nominees and over 500 likes on facebook within a month from November to December. It gave the nominees a platform to evaluate themselves and know how they are perceived by the community.
