Do You Have Resolutions For 2024?
Happy New Year! Do you have any resolutions or goals for 2024? As we embark on the 2024, many individuals are dedicating time to set plans and resolutions. Have you already established your goals for the year? This week and the first Coffee Bar Tuesday of they year, our focus was picking from the last discussion of 2023 on resolutions.
During the December 19th, 2023 discussion, a majority of participants revealed that they hadn’t achieved most of their resolutions and goals set for the previous year. Some participants didn’t have resolutions at all, as they lacked a framework for creating them or understanding their significance. Nevertheless, we acknowledged that some people prefer long-term plans over specific resolutions.
Participants expressed their intention to carry forward unfulfilled resolutions from the previous year, demonstrating their commitment to tracking their plans and goals. The discussion emphasized that while many resolutions fail, individuals can increase their chances of success by choosing realistic goals and focusing on achievable action plans.
One participant highlighted the importance of setting realistic goals, emphasizing that achieving them positively impacts one’s mindset. Failing to achieve anything can lead to stress and potential mental health issues. Participants shared a variety of resolutions for this year including weight loss, academic completion, starting a business, skill acquisition, wealth creation, expanding networks, strengthening family bonds, saving more, travel more and land investment. Others opted for vision boards and setting targets to guide them on their plans and timelines.
Throughout the discussion, the theme emerged that everyone has plans, resolutions and goals, but the crucial question is whether there’s a roadmap to track the progress of these plans. In upcoming conversations, we’ll focus into making resolutions achievable, setting realistic goals, and emphasizing the importance of the process rather than solely focusing on the end result. Tracking goals serves as an effective method of accountability, allowing individuals to identify gaps and challenges and develop strategies to address them.
As we step into 2024, we anticipate creating a space where young people can continuously learn, relearn, and thrive. Our goal is to foster a community where skills, opportunities and knowledge can be acquired, leading to the development of a stronger community. See you on Tuesday!
